Pope Benedict XVI reported about “gay-lobby” in Vatican
In his interview-book “Final Conversations” to be published on 9 September, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI tells about his resignation, about problems of running the Catholic Church, including those related to “gay-lobby” in Vatican. It is reported by Sedmitsa.RU.
Excerpts of his book-to-be appeared in the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”. It follows from them, in particular, that Pope Benedict XVI recognized the fact of “gay-lobby” in Vatican during his pontificate. He asserts this group included four or five persons. The former head of the Catholic Church assumes he succeeded in curbing their efforts to produce an impact on the Vatican policy.
Ex-pontiff admitted he lacked firmness necessary to administer the Catholic Church efficiently. He also confirmed when working under the auspices of the Pope John Paul II, he filed a letter of resignation several times and continued his work only upon the Pontiff’s request.
Benedict XVI told he was surprised by the election of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as Roman Pontiff – he expected somebody else from cardinals to be his successor.
It will be reminded that earlier Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI declared about “deep faith crisis” in the Catholic world after the Second Vatican Council.
