Another Persecutor of the UOC Is Appointed New Minister of Culture

On April 14, Yevhen Nyshchuk, known for his negative attitude to the UOC, took up the post of head of the Ministry of Culture in the new Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, reported TeleNedelia.

This is the second appointment of Yevhen Nyshchuk as Minister of Culture. The first time he held this post for eight months, from February to December, 2014. As a minister, Yevhen Nyshchuk repeatedly called for a "unified Ukrainian local church" and the elimination of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Yevhen Nyshchuk is a cinema and theatre actor, Honoured Artist of Ukraine. To the general public he is known as a moderator of Euromaidan 2013-2014 and the "voice of the Orange Revolution" 2004. In the post of Minister of Culture he is remembered for a "black list" of Russian actors who were denied entry to Ukraine. German political scientist Andreas Umland emphasizes that it was Yevhen Nyshchuk who made the slogans of Ukrainian Nationalists "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!" the motto of the protest movement of Euromaidan.

We recall that the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine is a specially authorized executive body for religious affairs.
