The meeting focused on deepening mutual cooperation.

On January 14, 2025, a meeting took place between the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), Sviatoslav Shevchuk, and the leader of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Epifaniy Dumenko. According to the UGCC press service, the discussion centered on deepening mutual cooperation.

"The parties discussed inter-church and interfaith cooperation, particularly within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, as well as the possibility of resuming the work of the 'Study Group of the Kyivan Church'. They also reviewed the outcomes of Epifaniy’s visit to the Vatican and Shevchuk’s visit to Constantinople," the press release states.

Additionally, the parties exchanged proposals for further developing cooperation, taking into account "the challenges facing society and the state amid Russia's hybrid aggression against Ukraine."

As the UOJ previously reported, Shevchuk earlier stated that agreements between the Roman Catholic Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate should be implemented in Ukraine.
